What Changed in Wisconsin for 2027

Aspirus Health Plan is leaving Medicare Advantage. Aspirus is exiting in all 21 Wisconsin counties it served, so its members need to choose a new plan for 2027. Read more about what happens when a plan ends.

✔

Humana is adding chronic care plans. Humana’s new chronic condition special needs plans in Wisconsin are for people with conditions such as diabetes and heart disease.

Medicare Cost Plans in Wisconsin

Medicare Cost plans are rare, and Wisconsin has 14 of them for 2027. A Cost plan has a provider network like an HMO, but if you see a doctor outside the network, Original Medicare generally covers the visit and you pay Original Medicare’s cost-sharing.

Cost Plan Carrier Wisconsin Cost Plans for 2027
Medica Six Prime Solution Cost plans in 16 counties.
HealthPartners Three Freedom Cost plans in 7 western Wisconsin counties.
Medical Associates Three Cost plans in 4 southwest Wisconsin counties.
Dean Health Plan Two DeanCare Gold Cost plans in 8 counties.

Cost plans may or may not include drug coverage, so check whether you need a separate Part D plan. Ask the plan whether it’s accepting new members, and compare it with Medicare Advantage and Medigap options in your county.
