Medicare Advantage Plans in Illinois 2027: Carriers, Costs and What's Changing

Reviewed by Russell Noga, Licensed Medicare Insurance Broker (all 50 states) — Last updated October 11, 2026

Illinois has fewer Medicare Advantage plans for 2027, but the plans that remain cost a little less on average. CMS’s 2027 landscape data shows 136 Medicare Advantage plans in Illinois, down from 157, with the average monthly premium falling from $8.49 to $7.11.

The biggest change is Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois. Its parent company is shrinking its Illinois Medicare Advantage footprint from 100 counties to 7, so many Illinois members will need to choose new coverage. Annual Enrollment runs October 15 to December 7, 2026, for coverage that starts January 1, 2027.
