What Changed at CarePlus for 2027

Comparing CMS’s 2026 and 2027 plan data, CarePlus made only a few changes:

✔

Two new plans in Lake, Marion and Sumter counties: CareOne Plus Local (HMO-POS) and CareComplete Local (HMO C-SNP).

✔

CareOne Plus in the Tampa area becomes an HMO-POS, up from a standard HMO, which can add some coverage outside the network.

✔

CareNeeds Extra narrows. The South Florida version (Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach) is gone for 2027, and the remaining version is listed for Brevard County.

Current members should read their Annual Notice of Change for the exact changes to premiums, copays and benefits. Humana also reported that 95% of its Medicare Advantage members are in plans rated 4 stars or higher for 2027. See our guide to Humana Medicare Advantage plans for the national picture.

What CarePlus Plans May Include

Here’s what CMS’s 2027 benefit data shows for CarePlus plans. Amounts and rules depend on the plan and county:

✔

A Part B premium giveback on 9 CareFree Giveback and CareFree Platinum Giveback plans, which lowers what you pay for Part B each month.

✔

An over-the-counter allowance on every CarePlus special needs plan and most regular plans.

✔

Grocery and utilities help on the CareNeeds dual plans, most CareComplete and CareBreeze plans, and some regular plans, for members who qualify.

✔

Dental, vision and hearing benefits may be included, depending on the plan.

Most CarePlus plans are HMOs or HMO-POS plans, so you’ll generally choose a primary care doctor and use the CarePlus network. Learn more about how Medicare Advantage HMO plans work. Check each plan’s 2027 Summary of Benefits for exact premiums, copays and out-of-pocket limits.

CarePlus 2027 Star Rating

CarePlus vs Humana: What's the Difference?

CarePlus is a Humana company, but its plans are separate from Humana-branded plans like Humana Gold Plus. CarePlus has its own Medicare contract, its own Florida networks and its own star rating.

In South Florida especially, you may see both CarePlus and Humana plans in the same ZIP code. Compare them side by side on networks, drug coverage and total costs. If you were affected by Humana’s 2027 plan exits, see our guide to Humana Medicare plans ending in 2027.

✔

Look harder at other options if you:

Put star ratings first, since several Florida carriers earned 4.5 stars for 2027

Before You Enroll: 2027 Checklist

1

Confirm your county. CarePlus plans are sold by region.

2

Check your doctors and hospitals. HMO plans work best when your providers are in network.

3

Run your prescriptions. Compare drug costs across CarePlus and other carriers.

4

Compare the giveback with the extras. A giveback plan may offer fewer extra benefits than other plans.

5

Read your Annual Notice of Change. South Florida CareNeeds Extra members may be moved to another plan.

6

Mark the dates. Medicare Open Enrollment 2027 runs October 15 to December 7, 2026.
