What Changed at EmblemHealth for 2027

Comparing CMS’s 2026 and 2027 plan data, EmblemHealth made several changes:

✔

Dual-eligible plans end. VIP Dual, VIP Dual Enhanced and VIP Dual Reserve, the plans for people with both Medicare and Medicaid, are not listed for 2027.

✔

The upstate plan ends. VIP Value (HMO-POS), sold in upstate counties such as Albany and Broome, is not listed for 2027.

✔

Fewer counties. EmblemHealth’s 2027 individual plans are sold only in Bronx, Kings, New York, Queens, Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester counties. Staten Island, Dutchess, Orange and Putnam are no longer included.

✔

New plans. VIP Saver and VIP Core are new for 2027, and VIP Value is now a standard HMO in the New York City area.

If your EmblemHealth plan is ending, your coverage continues through December 31, 2026, and you can choose a new plan during Annual Enrollment or a Special Enrollment Period. You may also have a guaranteed issue right to buy certain Medigap plans. See our guide to Medicare Advantage plans in New York for other options.

What EmblemHealth Plans May Include

Benefits depend on the plan and county, but EmblemHealth VIP plans may include:

Prescription drug coverage, with Part D out-of-pocket costs capped at $2,400 in 2027.

✔

Dental, vision and hearing benefits, depending on the plan.

Before You Enroll: 2027 Checklist

1

Confirm your county. EmblemHealth sells individual plans in only 7 counties for 2027.

2

Check your doctors and hospitals. HMO plans work best when your providers are in network.

3

Run your prescriptions. Compare drug costs across EmblemHealth and other carriers.

4

Compare VIP Saver, Value and Gold. A lower premium can mean higher copays.

5

Read your Annual Notice of Change. VIP Dual and upstate VIP Value members need a new plan.

6

Mark the dates. Medicare Open Enrollment 2027 runs October 15 to December 7, 2026.
